UK. IDPM Urban Development Masters Scholarships are offered by the Institute for Development and Policy Management (IDPM) , School of Environment and Development, for students undertaking full time postgraduate taught in International Development : Urban Development.

Academic requirements

  • First class or 2.1 degree in Geography, Planning, Sociology, Political Science, Anthropology or any related cognate disciplines
  • IELTS score of 7.0 and above


The scholarships consists of a half fee waiver at the 2008 overseas fee rate, equivalent to £5,250. The award is automatically deducted from the successful student’s fee at registration. Must be used in the 2008-09 academic year to study on the MA International Development: Urban Development

The scholarship is for full time study in the academic year 2008-09. The scholarship is only available to overseas fee paying students. Continuation of the award is subject to satisfactory progress.

Other eligibility criteria

  • Overseas(Third World) study fellows not already funded
  • Currently in Employment
  • At least 4 years work experience in urban development

Application procedure
Applicants are automatically considered for the scholarships once they recieve an offer. The successful candidate will be notified by the end of July. Applications received after the 30th June will not be considered for the award.

Closing date
29 Jun 2008
Applicants must have submitted an application and received an offer by the 30th June 2008 to be considered for the award.

Decision date
The successful applicant will be notified by 18 July 2008.
