Mid Sweden University, Sweden
The research programme Sensible Things that Communicate (STC@MIUN) at Mid Sweden University is looking to employ six or more PhD students. The research will be executed in close cooperation with industrial partners.
Qualifications: The prerequisite to be accepted for PhD studies in electronics at Mid Sweden University is a Master’s degree in computer science, electronics, electrical engineering, or technical physics.
For computer science you need a Master’s degree in computer science.
Selection: The selection will be based on your previous works (e.g. thesis work), specialization courses and through personal interviews. Additionally, your motivation, social skills and ability to communicate is also of a big importance in the selection process.
Positions in electronics:
1. Electronic systems for smart cameras, Reg. no MIUN 2007/1842.
The project aims to study CAD and architectures for smart cameras with a focus on FPGA technology for video processing.
2. Optical and radiation based measurement technology, Reg. no MIUN 2007/1843.
The project aims to investigate methods for classification and measurement of industrial processes using optical and radiation (X-ray) based measurement technology.
3. Printed electronics, Reg. No. MIUN 2007/1844.
The project aims to investigate and develop components, structures, printing technique and materials for printable sensors and systems. A large focus is on developing low cost solutions and interfaces to none printed components.
4. Sensor components, Reg. No. MIUN 2007/1845.
The project has a focus on developing, manufacturing and evaluating sensors for photon and particle detection in imaging and spectroscopy applications. The target of the research is to find low cost solutions.
5. Wireless sensor networks, Reg. No. MIUN 2007/1846.
The project has a focus on method and technology development for autonomous wireless sensor networks. The research work has a very strong focus on experimental work, where the target is to use the applications requirements for design and implementation of wireless sensor networks.
Position in computer science:
6. Ad-hoc sensor networks, Reg. No. MIUN 2007/1847.
The project has a focus on developing and analyzing technology for wireless sensor networks, for example new protocols for data transfer, techniques security handling and configuration tool for sensor networks.
