Portugal. Institute of Biomedical Engineering.
Open for application, Research Assistant to the laboratory Biointerfaces of INEB – Institute of Biomedical Engineering under a collaborative project involving the INEB, the Center for Physics, University of Minho, the Technical University of Ilmenau and the company Eemagine, Medical Imaging Solutions GmbH.
Project: Development of a prototype of electrode active dry and for the purchase of electroencefalografi (EEG) signals in multi-channel system (Desenvolvimento de um protótipo de eléctrodo seco e activo para aquisição de sinais electroencefalográficos (EEG) em sistema multi-canal)
The grant, under the exclusivity, opened planned for April 2008 and will last for 6 months (with the possibility of renewal for a further period of 6 months).
Work: The candidate selected will be integrated into the Group NEWTherapies laboratory Biointerfaces of INEB – Institute of Biomedical Engineering and carry out the work in the INEB and the Center of Physics of the University of Minho. It is also envisaged a stage of short duration at the University of Ilmenau.
Profile required: candidates with expertise in the fields of materials science and electronics, and is essential to have a good knowledge of English spoken and written, and is a condition rather than willingness to continue in research.
Program works: The project aims at developing a purchasing system for multichannel monitoring of signals electroencefalografi, based on electrode type dry with amplification incorporated. The task of the Portuguese partners is the selection and optimisation of the sensor electrode materials, as well as in their laboratory test. The technique used is the deposition by r.f. Sputtering, and the sensors characterized point of physical-chemical, electrical and in the view of the electrical noise generated when in contact with the body. The work will be carried out in close collaboration with Eemagine and with the Technical University of Ilmenau, involving the test of the complete system in the last phase of the project.
General conditions: The hiring will be governed by provisions in the legislation in force with respect to the status of Fellow Research (Law No. 40/2004 of 18 August) and the Regulation of Scientific Research Grants of INEB (www.ineb.up.pt — “positions available”). The monthly value of the grant will be 745 €, and will be paid, preferably, by bank transfer.
The deadline for receipt of applications begins to February 25, 2008 and ends on March 15, 2008. Applications must be submitted on the form itself, available on the page of INEB (www.ineb.up.pt – “positions available”). Must include a motivation letter, in English, letters of reference and other documents relevant to the selection. The first stage of selection is based on the curriculum vitae of the candidate. In the second phase, the candidates who passed the first selection, will be interviewed.
Applications should be sent by email to info@ineb.up.pt, by mail or delivered by hand, addressed to:
