Project Outline

Anion exchange materials, in particular layered hydroxides, have found numerous applications in fields as diverse as catalysis, molecular recognition, medicine and gas adsorption. This project will involve the synthesis and characterisation of new hydroxide based anion exchange materials and subsequent investigation of their chemistry and properties. It will utilise the wide variety of experimental and theoretical techniques available within the Liverpool Centre for Materials and Catalysis as well as synchrotron and neutron facilities.

The successful candidate will have, or expect to obtain, a degree at grade 2i or above in Chemistry or its equivalent. The studentship is supported by the EPSRC doctoral training account at the standard research council rate and under the terms of the funding is limited to U.K. and EU citizens.
