Ireland. The research scholarships are provided by the University under UCD Ad Astra scholarships scheme. The overall aim is to attract applicants of the highest academic standards to participate in structured Ph.D. programmes in University College Dublin (UCD).

More specific target of the scholarships scheme are excellent candidates who wish to pursue PhD degrees by research with participation in PhD programmes which include transferable skills modules.The areas of research for the UCD Ad Astra Research Scholarships cover a very broad range of disciplines across the Schools, Institutes and Colleges.


To be eligible to be considered for a UCD Ad Astra Research Scholarship a candidate should have obtained or expect to obtain a 1st Class Honours Degree or at least a 2.1 Honours Degree or equivalent and be qualified for direct admission to a PhD programme for the first time in September 2006. Additional evidence of having demonstrated an aptitude and interest in research would be advantageous.
