Sweden. Two PhD positions are available within a research project of Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) and Space Time Adaptive Processing (STAP). The project is in collaboration with industry and is sponsored by the Swedish Knowledge Foundation. The candidate will work in an active scientific environment together with companies who are strong in this field.

Interested candidates should hold a Masters degree in electrical engineering, physics, mathematics or other relevant disciplines. It is required that the applicant will be admitted to postgraduate studies.

The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of signal processing, electromagnetic field theory and RF system design.

The SAR is today an important sensor to monitor the earth by satellite and airplanes. One reason is that radar is a very efficient sensor to determine changes and movements. The main focus of these research positions is to increase the fundamental understanding of space time SAR and to develop novel algorithms in this area. Especially the objective is to develop algorithms for future ultra wide band systems in comparison to the narrow band systems used today. The future systems will have much higher image resolution and increase performance of space time SAR.

For PhD students at BTH a standard salary scale is applied, which means that the salary is adjusted upwards as the student progresses through the programme.

The application should include the following:

  • The earliest date on which the position can be taken up
  • CV
  • Certified copies of certificates and diplomas
  • All documents in duplicate

In its work, BTH needs the experience of both women and men and applications are welcomed from both genders for all positions.
