Italy. There are three doctoral programmes of interest: Economics and Organisation (DEO), Economics (DEC) and Business (DEA). DEO is administered by SSAV; DEA and DEC by the U. of Venice. They cooperate and share several activities.
DEO will admit up to four students, all of which will be fully financed (including tuition fees and living stipend). DEA and DEC will each admit up to eight students, four of which will be fully financed (including tuition fees and living stipend). One position in DEC will be preferentially assigned to students with an interest in Mathematical Methods for Economics.
The selection of the candidates will be based on the evaluation of their curriculum and reference letters. Applications must include a curriculum vitae, a statement of purpose (covering also research intentions) and three letters of reference (one of which should also vouch for the candidate’s adequate knowledge of the English language). If available, any published work or working paper should also be included. Enclosing GRE and TOEFL results is highly recommended, but not (yet) required.
Separate applications are required for either program. Simultaneous applications to both programs are possible.
An application to DEO or DEA/DEC must abide by the statute of their respective “Bando” (Official Advert) as published on the Gazzetta Ufficiale della Repubblica Italiana. The official version of each Bando is available from the website of the University of Venice following the path Offerta Formativa -> Dottorati.
The deadline for applying to DEO is June 12, 2006. Notice of admission will be given by July 3rd, 2006. The deadline for applying to DEA or DEC will be after this latter date. Most classes are common across these three programs. Classes start on September 4th, 2006.
