ARM Scholarships/Internships are open to students holding an offer for the MSc(Eng) Microelectronic Systems (preferred) or MSc(Eng) Microelectronic Systems and Telecommunications at the University of Liverpool’s Department of Electrical Engineering and Electronics. The scholarships package include:

  • £4,200 ARM R&D award and £1000 International Advancement Award from the University of Liverpool (to be deducted from the tuition fees).
  • Guaranteed 3 month internship with ARM R&D in Cambridge, UK with graduate level salary (June to September 2009).


The scholarships/internships are offered by ARM Ltd (http://www.arm.com) in cooperation with University of Liverpool for one or two students from India to study for a microelectronics masters degree at the University of Liverpool undertaking their project work as a paid intern at ARM R&D in the UK. This is the fourth year that this scholarship has been offered.

To be eligible, applicant should have:

  • A keen and demonstrable interest in computer architecture, computer micro-architecture, compilers, operating systems, C and assembly languages, algorithms and data structures.
  • A high first class or first class with distinction BE, ME, BTech or MTech degree in a relevant subject (including Computer Science if computer hardware electives have been studied).
  • Relevant work experience in embedded systems, system on chip or IC design.
  • MSc candidates are expected to have prior knowledge of digital systems, CMOS transistor circuits and signal processing topics such as Fourier, Laplace and z-transforms and s-plane/z-plane representations.
  • Good English language skills (minimum IELTS 6.5/TOEFL 230 + ER 4.0 or 70% in English at Standard XII from national or metro state boards).

Candidates holding an MSc offer should submit an online application by Friday 16 May 2008.

Selection interviews will be held at the offices of the University’s representatives in India in May/June 2008. From these interviews, short listed candidates will advance to a telephone interview with a Senior ARM engineer in July 2008.
