International Zollverein Scholarships Competition in Design and Architecture

Germany. 10 one-year scholarships on the topic “Universal Home” will be awarded. The scholarship will be accompanied by a colloquium run by Professor Dr. Peter Zec from 1 October 2006 to 30 September 2007.

The awards include:

• 10 scholarships with 1,000 euros per month for the duration of one year
• 10 workplaces on the Zollverein premises
• 10 travel cost subsidies
• 10 publication subsidies to document the results

Those eligible for the scholarships are students who are about to take their diploma as well as design and architecture graduates from international universities. The scholarships is not for a course or a degree, but rather requires a high degree of creativity and independence

Requirements

• An application including information specific to the scholarship
• A degree in architecture or design
• Key projects or references related to the topic
• Innovative ideas on the topic “Universal Home”
• Ability to work independently and creatively on the topic
• Compulsory residence on the Zollverein premises in Essen
• High proficiency in the English language

The application has to be in English and should not contain more than eight pages:

1. Personal details and training
2. Stay(s) abroad or overseas work experience
3. Distinctions, references or list of clients
4. Work experience or placements relevant to the topic
5. Ideas and visions on the topic “Universal Home”
6. Photocopies of last certificates (degrees, diploma)
7. Letter of recommendation from the university
8. Documents relevant to the topic
