Two PhD scholarships of up to A$35,000pa for three years (tax free) are available for Australian residents or New Zealand citizens to undertake a PhD program starting in March 2008. International applicants with exceptional quality may also be considered. The PhD projects are in the area of micro/nano-analysis and fabrication for silicon substrates (e.g. in silicon solar cells) and other crystal materials, and can be designed to suit each candidate’s background. Applicants are expected to have an honours degree or a research maters degree in (a) Mechanical Engineering and Applied Mechanics (all relevant disciplines), (b) Applied Physics, or (c) Applied Mathematics. Final year students in the thse disciplines are encouraged to apply

This scholarship is offered once only to 2 people. Open for applications from October 25, 2007. The value of this scholarship is AUD35000 (maximum per annum). This award is to be used for living expenses. This scholarship is paid fortnightly for the period of 3 years. This scholarship is for one of the following fields of research: ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY. It is required that your study starts no earlier than March 10, 2008.

This scholarship requires you to have achieved Honours 1 or equivalent, Honours 2a or equivalent, or Masters or equivalent. There are no restrictions on citizenship.
